Hurling

The Fullen
Gaels hurling team are currently the Lancashire Senior Hurling Champions and All-Britain Junior Hurling Champions. Up until 2013, due to Fullen
Gaels being the only hurling club in Lancashire, we competed in the Warwickshire League and Championship. Since 2014, a new Lancashire Championship has been formed in which we compete with other clubs in the region.

In 2010 we won the Warwickshire SHC for the first time after John Mitchels from Birmingham had held the title for a number of years. We followed that up with an All-Britain JHC by beating the London Intermediate Champions, Brother Pearse in Birming
ham. We competed in the 2011 All-Ireland Junior Club Championships where we were drawn against Meelin, the Munster Junior Champions from Cork in the quarter-final. We lost that match and Meelin went on to win the Championship at Croke Park in February.

We repeated All-Britain JHC success in 2011 and were drawn against Burt, the Ulster Junior Champions from Donegal in the 2012 All-Ireland Junior Club Championship quarter-final. After winning this match we made the semi-final, only to be beaten by Charleville, the Munster Junior Champions from Cork in January. After retaining the Warwickshire and All-Britain club titles again in 2012, we reached the All-Ireland Club JHC Final in 2013, beating Calry/St. Josephs of Sligo in the quarter final, and Bredagh of Down in the semi-final. In the final, we lost out narrowly to Thomastown of Kilkenny at Croke Park on a scoreline of 2-17 to 2-14. In 2013, we won Warwickshire SHC for the fourth consecutive season followed by a fourth All-Britain JHC. We beat Ballinamere of Offaly in the All-Ireland Club JHC quarter-final and lost the semi-final to Creggan Kickhams of Antrim.

For the 2014 season, we won the Lancashire Championship for the first time since it had been stopped in the 1980s and followed it up with a fifth consecutive All-Britain JHC.

We currently train Hough End, Manchester. Anybody that is interested in joining up should check out our New Players section where details of how to join can be found.
